This is a letter of recommendation for Nicolaus Rettberg. Nicolaus worked for Quality Education Data (QED) as a Network Administrator and a Web Application Developer.

Nicolaus undertook a large server virtualization project shortly after joining QED. This was a complex project that involved the clustering and support of multiple SQL database servers that were critical to the operation of the organization. Nicolaus did an excellent job of planning and executing our transition to the new virtualized server environment. These changes reduced system down times, improved performance and reduced the administrative effort required by separate individual servers.

In addition to his duties as a Network Administrator Nicolaus worked as the lead software developer on one of our most important and visible products, School Guides Online. Nicolaus interfaced directly with the product manager and database developer to significantly extend the functionality of this product. Nicolaus also worked with our Marketing Services team to produce a number of HTML email campaigns for QED’s clients.

Nicolaus has proven himself to be a multi-talented and very capable member of the team at QED and would be a valuable addition to any organization.

	• Ski Monarch - Monarch Mountain Technologies Used: • ASP, MS SQL Server 2000. • Graphic Design in Photoshop, ImageReady and Illustrator. Description: This website is the portal for Monarch a Ski Resort located in southwestern Colorado. The site features a variety of items all around Monarch Mountain including an extended database driven Snow Report, many articles about Monarch and picture galleries. The administration part which is used by the Ski Monarch Employees offers detailed editing capabilities to all the features mentioned above, including postings of new articles, image uploads directly to the database and edit capabilities for all reports. The backend is a Microsoft SQL Server Database containing a professional shopping cart besides other features.
	• Colorado AvidGolfer Technologies Used: • ASP, ASP.NET, MS SQL Server 2000. • Graphic Design in Photoshop, ImageReady and Illustrator. Description: This website is the portal for the Colorado AvidGolfer Magazine. The site shows the top 5 articles. Colorado Avid Golfer offers an online magazine order page and a seasonal Golf Passport order page. The backend is a Microsoft SQL Server Database containing an professional shopping cart and a subscriber database.
	• Mary Kline Photography Technologies Used: • ASP, JavaScript, HTML, ImageGlue 5.3. • Graphic Design in Photoshop and Illustrator. Description: Mary Kline is a professional photographer from Colorado, USA. She has a wide collection of beautiful pictures of the southwest of the United States. She needed an easy to maintain website since she is not familiar with web design. All that this site requires is for her to upload her pictures to one FTP directory and name them in a specific way. All previews and thumbnails are generated automatically on the fly using ImageGlue 5.3. To protect her copyrighted material, a watermark is embedded into every picture.
